The red letter stalker.

Title: Red letter stalker.
Characters: Noel, Dave, Mike, Julian, Rich + others.
Rating: 15 + (Violence, terminal illness, death)
Summary: A Stalker sends Noel red letters. It doesn't end pretty. From the perspective of MIKE.




It's difficult for me to talk about this. It's even more difficult for me to remember most of this. What happened on December the 15th of 2008 not only changed the way that I look at boosh fans - It changed the way I look at life. My Brother, My Family, Myself.



The day the red letter arrived.
"Mike? There's another letter here" - Shouted Dave, dripping wet and wrapped up from the waist down in a discoloured bath towel.
Noel was in the corridor, chatting to two tall, thin girls with Long, blonde hair and silk black dresses. One was holding a bottle of champagne in one hand, and something which vaguely resembled a pocket cup in the other. The other was clenching a deep blue gucci purse, encrusted with diamonds and velvet pockets.
"Noel", I shouted, holding the large red letter entitled simply "For Fielding". (I know what you're thinking. I'm a Fielding too.. But Half of the fanmail we get is "for fielding". I've grown sick and tired of opening the fanmail just to find "FOR NOELY"). The tall blonde girls giggled as Noel attempted to balance a champagne bottle, two cans of Coke and a black top hat in his hands.
"Busy Mike" - he whispered. I sighed. "Busy...?". He shook his head and apologised to the girls.
"I'm sorry about this ladies. What were you saying about the groucho?" I laughed and turned to Dave.
Dave looked up. He was sorting through a pile of scribbled up paper which the boys had been drawing on the night before in the tourbus. Dave gave me a slight smile and continued filing.
I thought I should soak up the scenery. I mean, how many times does your average London lad get to sit backstage at Wembely arena? I looked at the door. The sign which read "Spain" had been ripped slightly on the top right hand corner and there was a picture of a donkey scribbled in red pencil underneath the writing. I fixed my eyes on Noel.
"Noel!", I shouted impatiently. "FANMAIL?"
"Leave it, Mike", urged Dave. "He's busy". Help me sort through this. There's tons of it". The blonde girls were sniggering and stroking Noel's hair.
I sat down on the leopard print stool and began filing though the old drawings. There were pictures of cabbages, monkeys, banana's and the Cyclops.
"Ew", exclaimed Dave, holding up a piece of paper which had been somewhat 'decorated' with chewed up haribo and pink bubblegum.
"That's gotta' be Noel", he giggled whilst placing the paper in the small spotted paper bin.
After getting through what felt like a million pieces of paper, Dave and I found something which would later mark the beginning of the end. A pile of 50 crimson red envelopes.

Noel's echoing voice from the corridor was suddenly downed out by my own thoughts. Dave wiped his forehead and put his hand over his mouth.
"Oh Jesus", he whispered. "How did they get in here?"
I thought about responding but my response would be utterly pointless. Of course I was totally unaware of the distress that these envelopes would eventually cause. We all were.
"I dunno'. D'you reckon it's for Me or Noel?" (asif there was a point in asking). Dave laughed.
"Mike? Does anyone other than Noel ever get any fanmail?" he giggled, whilst opening one of the blood red envelope.
Dave rested one of the red letters on his lap, next to his half-full Stella beer can.

Have you ever had one of those moments when you can feel your blood heating and racing to your head? When your chest starts to throb as if your heart was trying to break through your ribs?

Dave's eyes widened. He gasped and covered his mouth.
As Dave held the red letter in his trembling hands I could make out the faint print of a skull from the back of the envelope.
"It says Die, Mike".
"WHAT?" I shook my head.
"It says "DIE FIELDING". "DIE NOEL FIELDING."
Our trembling hands met. I took the letter from Dave. The words jumped from the page - "DIE FIELDING". I didn't want to read on, but curiosity had grabbed me by the throat and restricted me from breathing. "NEXT STOP ON YOUR TOUR?" Written at the bottom of the page in italics was the small but monumentally destructive four letter word "Hell".

"Could be a practical joke Dave?" I giggled, My voice trembling. "It's probably just a joke - Come on. No one's allowed in the tourbus. There's no way that they could have snuck these in, not without someone seeing. hm?"
All of a sudden, all I could see in my head was the words "Die", and "Fielding", two words which I had hoped never to see.
Me and Dave sat in silence.
Red letter day One: The day we cheated death.
